GeneralDecember 8th Update

  • - All items in your inventory and all you blimps have been deleted to remove older items with wrong stats

    - It is a good time to test again blimp building

    - Many Javascript bugs have been fixed. Everything related to joining a game, quiting, waiting for players should be much more smoother

    - Fixed issues when building blimps. Now you shouldn't be able to use twice the same cabin or balloon

    - Fixed some issues in IE and Chrome

    - Added a loader icon telling you what the game is currently doing so you don't think it has frozen

    - Added some more blimps and balloons

    - Added new perks

    - Did work on monthly stats backup for each players (might be part of a new option for subscribers)

    Remember to provide some feedback about XP requirements for new ranks, blimp stats and bugs as usual.

  • Indeed, the game does run more smoothly :)

    As for Feedback about xp, I still think xp is gained much faster than flight hours. That might be inly due to playing solo games, mind, but yeah..

    * I'm trying to get the perk about level 2 blimp now, and I've just got 180xp in a pirate hunt. If that was my first game, I'd be more then halfway to the First Class rank after 0,17 hours of flight.

    It takes 6 games to get to rank First Class, At the moment it takes 34 xp per game to rank up. That mean killing 2 pirates. Even once it's really multi player, that is a bit low in my opinion.

    Of course, once there are more players, getting killed by a player will steal half those points, so for some the gaining of xp will be much slower, but for the ones who target players to steal xp, the difference between xp and flight will be even worse. But, even if you concentrate on avoiding players to not get killed and your points stolen, killing off 2 pirates should be doable.

    I'd suggest putting in 300xp and keeping the same ratio? You'd need to kill 3 pirates, not much better but it'd give a chance to those who die a lot, while avoiding being held back only because of Flight Hours.

    Once you start getting held back, it just piles up. You play more to get those hours, but you keep getting xp and medals, so once you reach the new rank you realize you've got everything but flight hours for the next one (if you die a lot), or the next 3 (if you're a player killer).

  • * Another solution would be to keep the same xp requirement but lower the pirate rewards to 15xp. That too would mean needing to kill 3 pirates per game, but it'd also make it slower to get the shillings needed to build up the blimps, so I'm not sure this is the best solution.

    * The victory medals seem fine, since there will only be one player to get the medal per game unlike now where we get them all if we just wait out the game..

    * I've not spoken of conquer types, because that on in solo mode gets you 300xp and up, but in multi player should be much more challenging. Needing to defend and attack, some will be getting a lot of xp, some will be almost ruined..

    (There is a limit to body length of posts that annoys me, by the way ^.~ Had to cut post in half, same as the post after update2. Oh well, I'll live.)

  • I'm thinking of removing the flight hour requirement completely. It doesn't serve any real purpose besides being an artificial "break" for progression which just sound annoying after all. Either that or lower the requirement so it's not annoying at all (but then it would probably become meaningless anyway).

    Anyway, piling up flight hours just sound like wasteful grind. I'd rather have that as an interesting stat for players so they can brag about it instead.

    Thanks for your feedback about XP. One thing I want though is the ability to reach the 2nd and probably 3rd rank quite fast so players get a sense of progression right away. It's sure hard to predict how much XP a player will actually make in a multiplayer game. Since at first people will be trying to figure out the system, getting rewarded while learning (getting new rank) is probably a nice gift to give them.

    Of course, progression need to be harder for the ranks after.
